What is the problem when the check engine indicator on my 2003 Chevy Silverado pickup is flashing?
You will have to get a engine scanner and scan the engine. And it will give you the trouble code or codes, and then fix the problem. The computor is seeing a problem
in the engine system or transmission system. Need to repair.
A flashing check engine light is an indicator of a serious misfire (usually more than one cylinder or consistent misfiring of a single cylinder). Have your OBDII codes read at auto zone or the like. They can tell you atleast what cylinders etc. are misfiring. This indicates a serious problem with the emissions system. The owners manual states that if the check engine light is flashing, do not drive the car!
The check engine light comes on and stays on when a problem is detected by the self diagnosis system of your vehicle. Generally, a check engine light is lit when there is a problem in the emissions or somthing that is affecting the effectiveness of the emissions. If the check engine light is flashing a misfire has been detected
