Open the hood and look at the front of the car near the radiator. There should be a sticker that gives the proper gap for the spark plugs.

It should be gapped at a .035 that's the standard that 2005 neons have unless you purchase a pregapped spark plug manufactured for this car.


Probably a fouled or bad spark plug...timing is not an issue, because your car's comptuer handles all of that stuff.
