I'm just curious if your question mainly refer to carbon (an element) alone or the "carbon dioxide"?...

I just assumed that it is carbon dioxide for it deals much on the atmosphere and greatly affect it especially when the level of carbon dioxide increases. It may lead to global warming that may interrupt and or disturb the balance of nature or worse, it may even worsen the atmosphere's condition making us die with the sudden change of air taken in by our system.

I hope it can even give you a clue...;)

Plants use carbon dioxide(CO2) along with water and sunlight to make their own food (sugars). This is called photosynthesis. They release oxygen. The carbon clycle is just to show you how plants use carbon dioxide. I hope this helps!!

The result of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is to keep the earth warm enough for life. Its time in the atmosphere is part of the carbon cycle, but our burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) since the Industrial Revolution is increasing levels and this is causing global warming.

Atmospheric carbon is predominantly CO2 (carbon dioxide), and to a lesser extent CH4 (methane). The CO2 was probably there from the beginning, as Venus and Mars both have atmospheres high in concentrations of CO2. Over millions of years tiny organisms pulled much of the CO2 out of the atmosphere via photosynthesis, breaking it apart and releasing the O2. The carbon then became sequestered in chalk and limestone rock deposits, and in vast coal seams and oil fields.

For the past 800,000 years CO2 has not risen above 300 ppm, typically vacillating between about 250 and 280 ppm. Beginning in 1700 CO2 began climbing steadily, and is currently approaching 400 ppm. We will exceed 500 ppm before 2050, at the current rate. The reason for this climb is primarily due to the human consumption of fossil fuels. We emit 30 billion tons of CO2 into the atmosphere each year, well over 100 times all earth's natural volcanic sources.

Which process could decrease carbon in the atmosphere?

The carbon cycle removes carbon from the atmosphere, but only temporarily.Photosynthesis, when plants grow, is the only way to permanently remove carbon from the atmosphere. So we need to plant more forests.

How does carbon and the atmosphere interact?

The carbon cycle moves carbon in and out of the atmosphere, the land, plants and animals, and the oceans. Carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is a greenhouse gas that keeps the planet warm. Too much carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, from humans adding it by burning fossil fuels, is causing an accelerated greenhouse effect, global warming.

What does it mean to say that algae fuel is carbon neutral?

Carbon neutral means that algae fuel does not affect the levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Algae takes in carbon dioxide as it grows, then, when the fuel is burnt, this same carbon dioxide is released. No increase, just exactly the same amount. This is why biofuel is so much better than fossil fuel which releases carbon that had been hidden underground for millions of years, so adding to the levels in the atmosphere.

What gas in the atmosphere makes venus so hot?

Carbon Dioxide

How much carbon in metric tons is stored in the atmosphere?

Most of carbon in the atmosphere is in the form of CO2. At nearly 400 ppm, that pencils out to 3 trillion tonnes (metric tons). To single out how much of that is carbon we need to multiply by 12 (molecular weight of carbon) and divide by 32 (molecular weight of O2). That works out to 1.1 trillion tonnes. There is additional carbon in the atmosphere in the form of methane (CH4), carbon monoxide (CO), chlorofluorocarbons (CFC), and a few other carbon compounds. If you count pollen, wind born leaves, birds, and other things occasionally swept aloft, the atmosphere temporarily suspends much more carbon yet.

What are some of mars atmosphere?

The atmosphere of mars is thin and is 95.32% carbon dioxide. Since it is so thin, not much is found in it.

Which processes in the carbon cycle decreases the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere?

Plants and trees remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere through photosynthesis. The ocean also absorbs carbon dioxide, so much now that it is becoming more acidic.

When a carbon atom enters the atmosphere it turns into what?

it should still be carbon, but too much carbon is bad for the atmosphere. Google: "Carbon in atmoshpere" and see why it's bad

What describes seasonal changes in the levels of carbon dixode in the atmosphere?

Plants use carbon dioxide, so there is less carbon dioxide in the atmosphere in the summer.

What process caused the atmosphere's composition to change so much?

Burning fossil fuel releases carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas which is building up in the atmosphere.

Where is carbon in the atmosphere mostly found?

Carbon Dioxide at .033% The only other two sources in the atmosphere are methane and carbon dioxide both of which are much less abundant.

Why is the climate currently warming?

the climate is currently changing because of carbon dioxide trapping so much heat in the atmosphere

Does Mars have am atmosphere?

Yes, but it is much thinner than Earth's atmosphere, and has considerably more carbon dioxide.

What gas in the atmosphere was absorbed by the oceans as they formed?

The ocean water absorbed much of the carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
