What is the purpose of law?
The purpose of a law is to maintain public order and control. Another purpose is to ensure justice has been served.
The purpose of legal research whether national or international is basically to find or: 1) Ascertain the meaning of the law as judges interpreted it 2) ascertain whether it is still a good law or bad law needing improvement 3) history of legislation of the law 4) reasons why is it successful or why is it not successfully applied.
It is the transgression or crossing the line and missing the point of God's Law: Galatians 3:19, NKJV [ Purpose of the Law ] What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator.
Law is needed in order to maintain a society, a state, and the country in its entirety. Without law there would be not regulation to peoples behaviour. Therefore to say that the primary purpose of the law is the maintenance of order is to say without it there would be no rules on how we should behave, everyone would do as they pleased and there would be no order in society.
