to build serious muscle you need to perform resistance based exercises (weights). the best exercises for home based work outs, without the weights are your own body weight baring exercises. try: press-ups -- sit-ups -- pull ups -- handstand press-ups -- single leg squats. these all have different variations, by placing your hands in different places will work different aspects of your muscle groups. press ups-- further your hands out, more your chest-- closer your hands together, more your tricep. pull ups are similar, but for your latts and your bicep. sit ups, try twisting as-well as a straight sit-up. single-leg squat, try balancing on a woble board etc
Simple stuff, pushups and Sit ups or crunches, if u do a routine, say 20 of each before you go to bed, then each week at five more to the total, it will be sufficient.
Bodyweight exercises such as push-ups, chin-ups, and pull-ups are excellent for building muscle when no weights are available.

No that is impossible. You cannot gain muscle mass without ever gaining weight.
Push ups and pull ups.
The only way you can gain weight by not going to the gym is to pig out and over eat. If you maintain a healthy life style and eat properly you shouldn't get fat, but you will loose muscle size, and strength
pushups are best.
Weight training.

If you not sore after a workout, your not going to gain muscle. When you lift, what you are doing is making tiny rips in your muscle, your body recovers by building new muscle to avoid it again. So if your muscles arent sore, your not going to gain any muscle.
