Both. The word 'God' is not a name, but a title. The 'God' of the Israelites has a name, and it was written 'YHWH' (translated: Yahweh(Jehovah)in English) (Psalms 83:18). Jesus acknowledged that his father was this very God that the Israelites claimed to worship(John 8:54), and was the same one to whom Jesus was praying in the 'Lord's prayer' (Matthew 6:9). Though originally in the scriptures over 7000 times, the 'tetragramaton' (YHWH) was quietly removed over the years causing some confusion, but The Bible is still very clear on the fact that Jesus' father IS his God (John 20:17)(Romans 15:6)(1 Corinthians 15:24)(2 Corinthians 1:3)(2 Corinthians 11:31)(Ephesians 1:3)(1 Peter 1:3) and that 'name' is to be 'hallowed' or 'held up as holy' (Matthew 6:9)(John 17:6)(Matthew 7:21-23)(1 Corinthians 15:25-28)(Matthew 10:32-33)(Matthew 16:15-17)(John 14:28).

Not only is Jesus' Father God, but we are told He is our Father as well and we should pray to Him as Our Father.
The Scripture has many names/titles for God. The one with the most confusion is Yahweh (some believe a form of 'I Am') which is spoken of from Genesis forward in other places. The Roman transliteration of this name is Y H W H. The Hebrews eventually believed it to be blasphemous to speak the Name of God so they forbade it and it soon lost its vocalization. Though some points were found in the Dead Sea Scrolls (in Psalms I believe) to assist in pronouncing this name, it has not developed so far.
One term did catch on for a bit and entered many more modern translations of Scpriture - the name Jehovah. Yet this is what is said on this name:
According to Webster's Dictionary, "Jehovah"is, "an erroneous rendering of the ineffable [inexpressible] name JHVH [or YHVH or YHWH] in the Hebrew scriptures."
Nelson's Illustrated Bible Dictionary adds:
"The divine name Yahweh is usually translated Lord in English versions of the Bible, because it became a practice in late Old Testament Judaism not to pronounce the sacred name YHWH, but to say instead 'my Lord' (Adonai)-a practice still used today in the synagogue. When the vowels of Adonai were attached to the consonants YHWH in the medieval period, the word Jehovah resulted."
