How can you fix stripped threads engine coolant temp sensor?
If the sensor is stripped you will have to replace it. If the fitting or hole it threads into is stripped it is likely you can make oversize threads and use a fitting called a bushing to repair it. Mind you I got desperate one night and epoxied one in. Its still working but if I ever have to change it I am toast.

What can you do if the threads are stripped on the O2 sensor?
If the threads of the sensor are stripped, it must be replaced. When this happens, the threads on the exhaust are usually also damaged. These can be repaired by "chasing" them with the appropriately sized tap. Be sure to use high temp. anti-seize on the new sensor. Sensors should only be removed when the exhaust system is at operating temperature.

Why has a screw threads?
The threads are what make it work. As you will know if you have tried to use a screw with stripped threads, it is useless. That is because a screw is a simple machine built from an even simpler machine: the inclined plane. The threads are an inclined plane wound around the outside of the screw, and are what change the twisting motion into a lifting motion.

How do you remove a stripped screw?
If the screw is stripped then the threads are not holding and can be removed with pliers. If your asking, about the head being stripped, then you take a hack saw blade and cut a new slot in it,this way you can use a slotted screw driver to remove it. If it is locked in and does not come out, you will have to drill it out with a drill bit that is smaller then the thread size.

Can I replace a stripped oil pan plug in 1992 Toyota Camry?
If the threads on the drain plug are stripped and the pan threads are good, you can just replace the drain plug. More often though, the threads in the oil pan that the drain plug screws into are what get stripped. If it's the oil pan, there are still a number of pretty simple options: There are oversized plugs you can buy, rethreading kits with inserts or self-tapping plugs. And there are rubber expanding plugs that are almost foolproof. It is your choice as to how you want to fix it. Go to your local auto parts store and look at your options. Whatever you do, do not use a silicone sealer to fix it.

What to do when you strip the head bolt and cannot get it out?
If you have stripped the head of a head bolt you will need to either obtain a special socket that grabs stripped bolt heads (Craftsman makes one), or you will need to drill the center out of the bolt and insert an "easy out." The second option is extremely difficult. Your third option, if you are very accurate and surgically precise would be to drill the bolt to only the inside diameter of the threads. This will cut the threads of the bolt off into the threads of the hole. Then you can use a tap to clear the threads, being very careful not to allow any metal shavings to fall into the engine.

What tool is used to get a stripped spark plug out?
Did you strip the actual plug is rounded off or did you strip the plug threads? If you stripped the plug itself and can get to it use vise grips. If you cannot get to the plug then go to your local parts store and tell then what happened. I know Snap On makes a special socket to remove rounded off bolts and spark plugs. Now if you actually stripped the spark plug threads then you may be able to just chase the old threads with a tap and clean them up enough that you can insert a new plug. Use anti-sieze compound and do not over tighten. 13 ft/lbs and no more. If that is not possible you will have to purchase a Helicoil. You local parts store can sell you the correct size and tell you how to use it.
