What is the red cylinder below the air filter on a 99 Saturn SC1 you have fluid leaking from it?

The trans filter is located drivers side just behind the radiator, only accessable from under the car, looks just like an oil filter, be careful when installing the new filter there are 2 sensors just above and below the filter that the wiring harness can get caught when tightening the filter and wrap around the filter and short out and dump tranny fluid all over the floor. That's why I'm here lookin....can't seem to find out which sensor it is

Follow the fuel rails to the fuel line and down to the filter. You'll find it on the driver's side, roughly a foot below the Brake master cylinder on the inside frame rail.

Place a drip pan below of the oil filter. Attach an oil filter wrench to the filter. Turn the wrench to the left. When the oil filter is loose turn with your hand until it comes off.

Check behind the engine underneath, usually towards the right hand side. Below the alternator.

Jack the car up, access the engine bay from below, you will see a black plastic cylinder, carefully unscrew it with an oil wrench (wrap cloth to prevent scratching the plastic cylinder) and you will access the filter. Good luck.

AnswerMy van was doing the same thing, dealer found leaking fluid from the brake master cylinder in the wiring harness just below the cylinder. New cylinder no more blown fuses

88 carb model , the filter should be back by the fire wall , a small canister , behind the engine or down below the master cylinder . some 89's and newer that are injected , the filter is straight below the master cyl. close to the firewall , it is a fairly big black looking assy. for a filter , and those are not real cheap.

Changing the oil filter on the 2008 RAV4 only requires changing the filter element. The filter element is located in the reusable oil filter housing located near the front of the motor below. If you have your owners manual the location is referenced in the book.
