The relationship between Romeo and Juliet is that when they are married for the majority of the story. Their marriage is a secret, though. Only four people know about it! When Romeo and Juliet first see each other they are instnantly infatuated with each other.
We find out in the prologue: "Two households, both alike in dignity (that's the Capulets and Montagues) . . . from ancient grudge break to new mutiny." These two families have had a complaint against each other for a long time, which is why it is an "ancient grudge". It has now broken out in a "new mutiny", and the Prince of Verona will tell us later that there have been "three civil brawls, bred of an airy word." Just in case we don't believe what the Prologue is telling us, we find out in the first scene exactly how this happens: The employees of the families, schmoes like Abram, Samson and Gregory start fights with schmoes from the other family, just because they like to fight. Then the off-cousins, the shirttail relatives like Tybalt get involved to protect the servants of their family, followed by actual relatives like Benvolio. Ultimately the leaders of the families themselves get involved. It is important to note that the closer you get to the family leaders, the less they actually want to fight each other, but in the fight in Act 1 scene 1, they get dragged into it. We'll see this again in scene 5 when Tybalt (who is not really a Capulet, being the son of Mrs. Capulet's brother) wants to start a fight with Romeo just because he is a Montague, and Capulet stops him, praising Romeo as a well-behaved young man.
Lady Capulet is Juliet's mother but she does not know Juliet very well. All the real mothering before the play begins has been done by the nurse. She is uncomfortable in Act 1 Scene 3 talking to Juliet alone and recalls the nurse who she had previously sent away.
The relationship between Juliet and her mom is not very typical. In other words, it is a far away from love relationship.

The first fight between the Montagues and the Capulets in "Romeo and Juliet" occurs in the streets of Verona. The altercation is sparked by the servants of both households, Sampson and Gregory for the Capulets, and Abram and Balthasar for the Montagues. The fight sets the stage for the ongoing feud between the two families that drives much of the conflict in the play.
