Sequoia sempervirens is the Californian Redwood. From the family of Taxodiaceae. Sequoiadendron giganteum the Big Tree or Wellingtonia.

The Redwood is the tallest recorded tree but the Wellingtonia, although not as tall as the Redwood attains a greater girth i.e. the General Sherman.

So take your pick.
