depends how much.... anything up to about 12 tablets in a day nothing will happen, from 12-20 you'd probly feel sick and maybe have a headache and feel dizzy. over 20 tablets for a small to average size person and you are getting toward toxic levels. severe paracetamol overdose can cause liver failure if not treated within the first 12-24 hours.

This is imperative. There is a small window of opportunity to counteract the effects of the paracetamol. Usually after around 12 hours since the overdose has been taken, there is little help you can receive. The overdose would have damaged your liver SEVERELY.

Once at the hospital you will be asked to wait until the paracetamol has fully entered your bloodstream (then the medical staff can determine the severity of the dose). From there you will not be discharged until the paracetamol has been removed or neutralized from your system.

While you are at your local hospital, it is completely normal to be vomiting. In fact, this is an ideal situation as the rest of the paracetamol is being ejected from your body. Just ensure that you drink plenty of fluids. However, do not eat or drink until you have confirmed you may do so with a nurse.

To those of you who are thinking about doing this, DO NOT. If you feel you need help with coping or you just need to talk with someone - contact your local GP. I regretted taking the long route, and trust me...it is not the easiest.

The daily recommended dose of paracetamol is 500mg-1000mg every 4 hours. Not exceeding 4g per day or the 1g in 4 hour, which ever applies first.

An overdose would be if a person were to take more than 4g in any 24 hour period.

if not treated it can lead to death, but it can take quite a few days for that to happen and it is extreamaly painful, would die of liver damage. anywhere between 4-12 hours after u have taken the overdose the affects are irriverseable. if u feel suicidal its ok to ask for help its not a sign of weakness its a sign of strength.

An overdose on paracetamol can be just as lethal as overdosing on any other drug. You should consult a doctor immediately, or call an ambulance if you feel faint or drowsy.

The only real side-effect with paracetamol occurs if you are hypersensitive(allergic) to paracetamol or liver and kidney damage if more than the recommended dose is taken
