Mexico City is by itself a capital. It is the capital of the Federal District, which is the political entity that contains such city.

Mexico is a federal republic, just like the United States. The Federal District acts just like Washington DC: it is not part of any of the constituting states of the federation.

I guess you mean state, as Mexico is a country already. All Mexican states with a capital city with the same name as the state include:

  • Aguascalientes (Aguascalientes)
  • Campeche (Campeche)
  • Chihuahua (Chihuahua)
  • Colima (Colima)
  • Durango (Durango)
  • Guanajuato (Guanajuato)
  • Oaxaca (Oaxaca)
  • Puebla (Puebla)
  • Queretaro (Queretaro)
  • San Luis Potosi (San Luis Potosi)
  • Tlaxcala (Tlaxcala)
  • Zacatecas (Zacatecas)
