It reduces waste, increases material utility, and protects the environment.

In some cases, recycling allows the re-use of materials more cheaply than the refining of new materials. In others, it prevents the need for disposal of waste by using the materials in a new way (extending their service life). For still others, it prevents hazardous refined materials from entering the biosphere as contaminants.

Almost everyone would recycle gold, silver, or copper, but sometimes their current state makes them difficult to refine economically. Likewise, cardboard and paper that is mixed with garbage is not economical to remove in order to use again as recycled paper. The rubber in tires, due to its molecular structure, often must be burned rather than put to other use.

The practice of recycling has always been a part of human society, but with more materials being artificially produced it becomes harder to accomplish. The generation of trash and refuse by human societies represents one of its greatest challenges; the historic natural means of their decomposition now takes even longer, even as their volume continues to increase at a dramatic rate.

The reason to recycle is simple and, at the same time, crucial in that this small act can help the environment out tremendously if enough people do it. If people do not recycle certain materials, they will go to waste and the effects of such waste will degrade the environment.

With so much pollution in the environment already, it is always helpful to recycle to help preserve it. Many people don't recycle simply because they do not believe that their personal lack of recycling will actually have a direct effect on the environment. While that may be true, if enough people develop such a mind set, less people will recycle, more waste will enter the environment, and the effects will eventually be felt over time.

For this reason, many companies and organizations have been made with the intent to ensure more people are made aware of the effects of recycling and encourage them to engage in such an activity. This fact alone illustrates that recycling is an incredibly vital act to be preserved in order to ultimately preserve the environment.

recycling is done to reduce waste that would otherwise simply sit in a landfill for years, decomposing. Many items that we use on a daily basis are not biodegradable, which means that they would simply sit in a landfill, theoretically forever. Recycling allows us to have many everyday products produced cheaper because the synthetic materials do not have to be made again.

it is done so that the earth doesn't turn into a junkyard, because many of our products we have today cannot be biodegradable and will stay there untill the end of time.

Not only is it beneficial to the environment but it also helps attract new clients. More and more companies/organisations are going "green" nowadays and more and more of them now consider recycling a priority. By not recycling you are most certainly cutting yourself from these potential customers.

Recycling bottles and cans avoids creating larger landfills/garbage dumps and saves energy. There are many reasons to minimize the garbage dumps. No one wants to live near them and they tend to smell.

Bottles (made of glass) and cans (made of aluminum) can easily be heated, made into a liquid, and reformed as a clean, new bottle or can. An aluminum can recycled can come back as a new can in as little as two months. Recycling keeps glass and aluminum out of the garbage dumps and minimizes the needs to mine new material while saving energy.

It is estimated that recycling just one aluminum can can save about one half gallon of gasoline or enough electricity to run a TV for about three hours.

I think the word you were looking for is "melted"!

Old metal articles like cans, worn-out cars, demolition salvage etc are not "recycled". Only their materials are.

Metal cans - steel (tinplate) as well as aluminium - are not melted to make new cans as such, but are mixed with all scrap of the same metals, melted and refined. The refined metal is then cast into ingots that can then be rolled into new standard bar and sheet stock materials for making all sorts of new metal articles. Therefore to say that a can may return as a new can is rather misleading. To the metals industry a discarded aluminium can is just scrap aluminium, not a scrap can.

Glass can be melted but is usually mixed with the raw materials for new glass.

The purpose of recycling is that people live, breath clean air, don't have trash in their back yard, and can use energy to have happy lives longer.

What do they do with recycling?

Recycling involves collecting and processing materials that would otherwise be thrown away to create new products. This helps conserve natural resources, reduce waste sent to landfills, and decrease energy consumption compared to producing new materials from scratch. Recycling plays a crucial role in promoting sustainability and protecting the environment.
