Just criss-cross on the bolts and don't tighten them all in sequence, just like tightening lug nuts on a wheel.
What is the torque for the flex plate
Not likely
the 1974 base 350ci had 195hp.
Cylinder head to block torque = 80 ft-lbs.
Advertised horsepower is...160HP @ 3800RPMs. The torque is 250ft. LBS @ 2400RPMs
It is on a plate on the driver's door.
like all VDubs, you have to pull the engine out, remove pressure plate by turning the outer 6 bolts no more than 2 fulls each before move to next, contine till all bolts loose ( plate is wrapped and under pressure for a reason) replace clutch plate, use a clutch alignment tool and have cone out, replace pressure plate in same manner as removed torque the bolts, and reinstall the engine.
65-69 ft-lbs
Not being torqued in the right sequence when the engine was serviced.
