I FOUND THIS AT WWW.AUTOZONE.COM, CLICK ON VEHICLE SPECS . For your 1999 CHEVROLET TRUCK BLAZER 2WD: INTAKE BOLT TORQUE FOOT POUNDS (FINAL TORQUE) TORQUE LOWER MANIFOLD BOLTS TO 27 IN/LBS TORQUE LOWER BOLTS TO 9 FT/LBS TORQUE LOWER BOLTS TO 11 FT/LBS TORQUE UPPER MANIFOLD BOLTS TO 44 IN/LBS TORQUE UPPER MANIFOLD BOLTS TO 7 FT/LBS (TO TORQUE BOLTS & NUTS, START IN CENTER USING CRISSCROSS PATTERN)

The lower intake manifold to cylinder head torque specification is 132 inch pounds. The upper plastic intake plenum to lower intake should be done in three steps 22 inch pounds, 44 inch pounds and thirdly 89 inch pounds. Be sure to follow the appropriate tightening sequence diagram.

The 1997 Buick LeSabre intake manifold bolt torque specifications is 45 pounds per square inch. The manifold bolts should be torqued in 15 pound intervals.

User Avatar

Dunno if it's any help, but on my 93 model it was 125 INCH pounds. No sequence was listed so I criss-crossed in an alternating pattern.

The torque specifications, for a 4.3 liter engine manifold, is 45 pounds per square inch. Torque the manifold bolts in 15 pound intervals.

There is no torque spec for the air filter --it sits in its housing which snaps open and closed. The intake manifold torque specs are 89 inch pounds (7.5 ft.lbs.), that is for both the upper and lower intake.

User Avatar

Carefully tighten the bolts in a crisscross pattern to 45 inch pounds. Then re-tighten them to 83 inch pounds.

User Avatar

Haynes manual says 115 inch pounds- Start from center of intake using a criss-cross pattern, working your way to ends of intake.

I'm pretty sure this is that same 3800 motor that gm uses in my mom's 2001 buick Le Sabre. Her intake was the fiberglass resin plastic and the torque specs are 89 INCH pounds. Make sure you use the right tightening sequence too. 89 inch pounds is for the upper intake or Plenum. 136 inch pounds is the torque specs for the lower intake

AnswerIf this is the V-6, then you must have a common problem...lower intake leaks coolant. The torque spec for the lower manifold is:First pass: 60 inch poundsSecond pass: 110 inch poundsLast (outer bolts only): 18 foot poundsUpper intake is a total 88 inch pounds in at least two steps.Randy

it's pretty easy. However because of how vital it is to follow manufacturers specs on torquing the manifold I would sugest getting a manual. Expect to spend between 4 and 6 hours on it. Remove everything from the intake manifold be sure to label everything carefully. Drain the coolant. Remove the intake bolts a1/4 turn at a time until they are all evenly removed. Clean off all traces of gasket material. The joints need to be spotless. It is imperative to not damage the mating surfaces. When you reinstall everything be sure to replace the gaskets in the same direction they came off. Re torque the manifold in three steps 15 foot pounds, then 25, ending at 35 foot pounds. The sequence is essentially middle right, middle left, rear left, rear right, front left, front right. It is more intricate than that which is why i recommend securing a manual.

Incorrect torque pounds, or incorrect sequence of torque, improper gasket installation, foreign matter not allow gasket to properly seal or warped intake manifold or warped block

The intake manifold gasket is located between the manifold and the engine block, and prevents leaks between the two surfaces. Follow the below steps to replace the intake manifold gasket on 2003 Ford Ranger. 1) Disconnect the cable to the negative terminal of the battery and remove all hardware and wiring that connects to the intake manifold. Now disconnect the throttle position sensor and the EGR valve, located adjacent to the intake manifold. 2) Remove the fuel lines from their respective connections to the fuel injectors. Plug the fuel lines to minimize fuel spilling. Disconnect the intake manifold runner control cable from the manifold. 3) Label the spark plug wires and pull from the boot to remove from their corresponding spark plugs. The spark plug wires must later be connected to the same plugs in order for the cylinders to fire in the correct order. 4) Remove the bolts that hold the intake manifold to the engine block, and remove the manifold. Pry the intake manifold gasket from the block with a flat-head screwdriver. Clean the top mating edge of the engine block thoroughly. The surface where the new intake manifold gasket will rest must be smooth and free of debris. 5) Apply sealant to the gasket surfaces and place it on the mating edge of the engine block. Position the new intake manifold so that it aligns exactly with the cylinder flanges of the engine block. Bolt the intake manifold to the engine block. Tighten the bolts to 22 foot-pounds with a torque wrench. 6) Reconnect the spark plug wires with their corresponding spark plugs. Pull the boots over the spark plugs. Replace all removed parts in their original positions. Reattach all of the fuel lines to the fuel rails and fuel injectors. Reconnect all electrical wiring to its respective part. 7) Connect the cable to the negative terminal of the battery. Start the engine and let it idle for about ten minutes. Check for leaks around the new intake manifold gasket.

Some bolts pass thru the water jacket so if you don't put sealer on the bolts the coolant can climb up the threads and puddle on the intake. I have removed them one at a time , cleaned the threads and reinstalled them with sealer and this fixed the problem. The dissimilar metals of the aluminum intake manifold and cast iron block have different expansion rates and eventually the lower intake manifold gasket will fail. All the bolts are not accessable without removing the supercharger. These bolts have a specific torque value and tightening sequence. Do the job right and remove the supercharger and intake manifold. Replace the gasket and reinstall the intake manifold using a thread sealer. Torque the bolts to 11 foot pounds and in the proper sequence. Coolant can leak internally into the engine, treat the problem not just the symptom. Hope this helps. "G"
