In some incarnations, yes. But in the main Batman story line, the Joker does not know that Batman is really billionaire Bruce Wayne. As said, Joker has deciphered Batman's true identity in a few story arcs, however those tales do not pertain to the the big picture. Au Contraire, previous poster. While it's been hinted since the 80's "Death in the Family" story that the Joker knew Bruce was Batsy, it was flat-out confirmed in "Batman RIP" in 2008. That is in fact correct. While Batman "Bruce" was fighting the Black Glove to save Jezebel Jet she kept calling him Bruce while the joker looked on. Batman even removed his mask while freeing her. See Batman #680.
Batman. Batman meant to do that. Batman dropped him in vats where Joker changed his face. Riddler wanted to kill Batman so he could treat his hostages like prisoners. Riddler sank 3 times. Batman told the hostages to get free. And they did. That's the true story. Riddler got burned 2 times. Batman let Riddler be miserable.
how important is for a film maker to remain true to the original story

Well the Hulk bashes things around whereas Batman acts as ninja and can go around attacking the Hulk from range. Batman can also distract the Hulk and hurt him from a different angle. Batman has defeated large (in size) enemies such as Bane, Solomon Grundy, Clayface, Killer Croc, Titan Joker, and more. So this is a tough battle but I am sure Batman will come out to be the true winner.
Rumor is that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is to play the role of either The Joker himself or cast as a "Copy Cat" Joker for the 3rd Batman / Christian Bale film. Once, this comes out as true... remember you heard it here first!
Since Batman is a man and man is an animal, it would be true.
they didn't get eaten
There have been multiple stories regarding the Joker's past, and I believe the creator of this character intended that. In one of the original comics (I can't recall which one) someone asked Joke this very question, and he replied, "I prefer multiple choice!" or something to that effect. In other words, it can be explained as such: * Joker has gone completely mad and has absolutely no recollection of how exactly he turned out this way * He knows what happened, but chooses to deceive people and intimidate them * No one knows what happened, and in his current state of Dimensia, Joker simply changes the story whenever he wants as a result of his mental state -he can no longer distinguish between what did and didn't happen. While this isn't a direct answer as to "How did the Joker get the scars" it is essentially the only answer. There have been several origin stories or hints about the Joker, and none are confirmed so until sometime in the future someone decides to make a beginning or true origin story about the Joker we will never fully know.
I think when he fell in the acid in the 1989 movie he must of got the scars but thats the older version and i think in the 2008 movie story 1 about his dad was the one that is true
