I would look at the number of barrels. If there is more than one barrel, you know you have at least a double barrel shotgun. If there are 1 or less barrels, then you don't.

When whiskey is bottled a number of oak barrels are dumped and blended together and bottled. Single Barrel Whiskey is bottled from one single oak barrel. Double barrel whiskey is aged in oak barrels then they are dumped and sometimes the proof is lowered and then put into a second new oak barrel to be aged again.

That is a Stevens double. Pull straight down on the forend to separate it from the barrel set. Then open the barrels and remove them down and forward. Far as you need to go.
