What is the value of a 22 caliber J Stevens Springfield Model 86C rifle with a tube magazine in good condition?
There is one for sale here: http://www.gunsamerica.com/guns/976676401.htm for $135.
I have one which I paid $49 for about 5 years ago in very rough condition. I have since restored it to like new. I did it for the fun of it, not that it would ever be worth more than $100 or so. My best guess is an original in good condition is worth between $100 and $125.
Stevens made a number of inexpensive bolt action utility rifles, including the Model 56, a 5 shot magazine repeater. Values range from @ $50 for one in poor but working condition, to @ $200 for one in excellent condition. I'm afraid that I can't provide any more info, since there is no collector's market for these guns.
Springfield" was one of the brand names used by Savage Arms Corporation, and they also made guns under the "Stevens" name after they acquired the Stevens company in the 1920s. The Model 87 was sold in several slightly different models under slightly different names until finally discontinued in 1987 hoped that help some This name was used by Stevens/Savage from about 1920 until 1948.
