If you have a true 1842 With Victoria on it, it is worth a substantial amount because of its' rarity. Halves and dollars from the 19th century are hard to come by. I cannot find this coin in my personal coin library, So that tells me it is extremely rare. Do not let anyone tell you it is worth bullion value because it is old and worn. You may have a rare gem. I would suggest having it graded by PCGS or NGC. Might be the best thing you have ever done with a coin. Also the Queen is on a lot of countries owned by the Crown,so the coin may not even be canadian. Your research will pay off if you research the coin through a reputable dealer or Historian. Hope this helps. You can also send the question to Alan Hebert at Answerman2@aol.com

Much more information is needed. Please post a new question giving the coin's denomination, condition, mint mark, and (if not a U.S. coin) country of issue.

American or British? Please post a new, separate question with the coin's country of origin
