You haxe a Ithaca model Flues double barrel shotgun which was made in the year 1917,by the serial number you have provided. As to value that cannot be determined without a more detailed description of the shotgun in question,to include gauge, barrel length, double trigger or single. It would also help if you describe the overall condition of this shotgun to include the amount of blueing remaining and the condition of the wood.
These were pretty early slide action shotguns, made from 1902-1913. The early model (24) has a unique double-trigger arrangement where one trigger cocks the firing pin and the other trigger fires the gun. The later model (50, 1911-1913) has a traditional single trigger. Relatively few were made, and values can reach over $700 depending on exact model and condition. We'd be interested in seeing it. www.countrygunsmith.net

In both variations, Ithaca produced 8 different grades, which all have different values. And in every case…
Have a Riverside Arms Co single shotgun do not know if 12 gauge or 16 gauge that belong to my Dad Found the number RP757 stamped on rifle behind the trigger Does this tell info about the rifle?
Sorry- that is a serial number, and conveys no information. If the barrel is not marked, you need to take it to a gunsmith who will measure the chamber- not only for gauge, but for the correct shell length. Just because an unfired shell fits does not mean it is the correct shell. And it is not a rifle, but a shotgun.
It depends on what you want to do. If you want to hunt, like duck, I would recommend a semi-auto shotgun chamberling at least 3 shells. If you want to shoot fast and accurately, like quail hunting or skeet shooting, I would recommend a single trigger "over and under" shotgun.(I think this is the best shotgun) But I would not recommend a double-barrel shotgun because of the barrel positions for any of these topics. If…
