Germany's climate is seasonal in nature just like US. The summers are mild in Germany and less extreme. Occasionally the climate goes high as 80's but for the most part they stay in 70's and low 80's. Germany can be more regarded as a cold country since the countryside is mostly not closer to the seas. Winters tend to be cold and snowy throughout the country. During Winter, temperature hit all time low. Climate becomes mild during spring. Overall, it isn't hard for people outside Germany to adjust and is comfortable throughout.

Yes it does snow a lot in Germany in December and during Christmas. Also it is not advisable to stay out when a weather man predicts a storm as if u stay in high altitude, the buses might stop due to the snow and it will be a problem if u don't have Auto (Automobile) for commutation. Also the one might have problem driving Auto too in such heavy snow. But it is nice if you like skiing and other winter sports. In total, Lots & Lots & Lots & Lots of snow in Germany in December.

Cold, snowy, and wet mostly. Of course that varies by the altitude. It is easy to compare German winters to winters in the American midwest, particularly Michigan and Pennsylvania.
