The only thing I can think of is a wool like packing material that may have been used in the muffler. Never seen this myself. I suggest you seek out a good muffler shop.
I think it hasn't.
It depends. There is coarse wool that comes from the outer part of the animal's coat and also really soft and fine wool that comes from the inner area. The best stuff is as fine as high quality cashmere at 15-18 micron diameter hairs - and the worst stuff is, well, pretty bad. I've read (from Khunu.com) that yak wool is 15% warmer than merino wool and it doesn't pill as badly as cashmere. Haven't seen one of their sweaters yet, but it looks pretty nice.
it comes from sheep
If you mean a thin wool, yes, you can purchase fingering weight, lace weight or thread weight wool. Indeed, nylon is made from petroleum. Wool comes from animal fleece that has been cleaned, carded and spun.
most wool comes from goats. It is their hair.
Sheep are not covered with cotton. Sheep are covered with wool, as in all over the body.
Wool is not a synthetic, it is a natural fiber. Wool comes from sheep, making it a protein.
wool feels like soft white stuff. and it looks like well wool
Silk comes from silk worms, and is not related to wool, which comes from animals that grow coats.
There are many different types of commercial wool available for knitting and crocheting. The types can be pure wool or wool blends. Each type of wool varies by the animal that the wool comes from (sheep, goats, alpaca, etc.), the grade/quality of the wool, how the wool was prepared/spun, and if the wool is blended with another material such as acrylic. Even with non-commercial wool there would be many variants based upon the type of animal that the wool came from, the grade/quality of the wool, how the wool was prepared and spun, the skill of the person preparing the wool. I have purchased home spun wool that varied greatly in thickness thoughout the entire skein making it difficult to use in a pattern where exact sizing is important.
Cashmere wool comes from Cashmere sheep in Kashmir.
Wool is a renewable resource.
