'P'arking or emergency brake
If you mean the exclamation point and the " P " above the word " BRAKE " in the lower right side of the gauge cluster in a 1998 Mercury Sable that means either the parking brake / emergency brake is on , or the brake fluid level in the brake master cylinder in your engine compartment is LOW
most likely an oxygen sensor
When the transaxle light is blinking on a 2001 Mercury Sable, it means there are some transmission issues that need to be addressed immediately. This condition may lead to locking of the transmission on second gear.
my car has a code p1309 2001 mercury sable. What is the problem. thanks
The red " BRAKE " light in your dash means that either your parking brake is on or the BRAKE FLUID LEVEL in your brake master cylinder in the engine compartment is LOW
If the light is on ( not flashing ) that means that the overdrive has been switched off ( the 4th gear of your automatic transmission )
The one on the tachometer that is surrounded by a gear is the check transaxle warning light
You have the code read with a scan tool to determine which cylinder.
I was looking at the 2001 Mercury Sable Owner Guide and it mentions a TRACTION CONTROL on / off switch located to the right of the instrument cluster
It's a button on the shifter that you pressed by accident. OVERDRIVE OFF. Used for hilly driving.
On a 1995 Mercury Sable : The ENGINE cylinder locations are numbered : firewall 1-----2-----3 4-----5-----6 front of vehicle > driver ( If that is what you mean )
There are two of them, which one? Instrument cluster - parking brake on or low brake fluid Overhead console - brake pads need to be replaced.
