Antarctica is not a tourist destination in the traditional sense. It has no tourist facilities, hotels or airports. A few airlines fly over Antarctica to show you the sights, then fly back to where they came from without landing. At least one company runs mountain climbing expeditions, but they make it clear that you need to be experienced and capable and fit enough to endure the rigours or polar mountaineering. Unless you are engaged in some sort of research with a large government grant, you really have no business being there.
tourism can benefit Antarctica by showing people they need to reduce green house gases instead of just telling them.
Tourism doesn't benefit anything. It just lets ordinary people feel poor cause only rich people can visit. It should only be open to scientists and those who work on the bases. They are actually doing something to benefit the continent. tourists are just harming it.
Commercial tourism in Antarctica is conducted by cruise ships, which sail from South America, New Zealand or Australia.
Cruises give tourists the opportunity to view the exotic, icy landscape. Then, guides take tourists to the continent using Zodiac boats. This gives tourists an opportunity to walk near penguin colonies -- when penguins are breeding, and step close to seals, which are also breeding on land. Some tours include abandoned whaling stations.
As well, cruises offer on-board lectures to tourists about Antarctic exploration, the science conducted in the Antarctic and the effects of The Antarctic Treaty and its ability to foster global cooperation among governments on the subject of science.
Each individual cruise is different from every other cruise. Differing cruise ship operators offer different options for tourists.
Under international agreements for tourists in Antarctica, cruise ship operators require that every tourist 'pack it in: pack it out', in much the same way professional mountaineers treat pristine geographies.
"Do' in this context is a personal verb: some tourists tour in Antarctica to simply claim the rare experience. Others are motivated by the rich visual desert available everywhere on a tour. A few tourists simply learn more about the highest, driest, darkest, windiest, coldest and iciest continent on earth.
its managed by only letting a certain amount of people on the surface at a time and also it dosent have a government and no one owns it but the rule is your not aloud to leave an litter and take your waste water with you also because its not owned people cannot build things on the ice like hotels. they have also made tickets to go quite expensive so you cant just go because you want to.
hope this was useful :-)

Tourism in Antarctica is self-managed by the tour operators who conduct tours. Tour operators subscribe to the International Association of Antarctic Tour Operators. You can review their guidelines here: iaato.org/guidelines-and-resources
Antarctica is not under threat from tourism its a lie they just think its a threat to the environment

No. Tourism is not sustainable in Antarctica, because sustainability implies a cycle. People who tour to Antarctica come on cruise ships, where they sleep and eat. Daily, they leave the cruise ships in zodiacs, to trek upon the continent, and visit penguin colonies, abandoned whaling stations, and other sites. They spend no money there; there are no native peoples or crafts to benefit from tourism. The perfect tourist leaves only footprints, and then only where footprints are allowed.
