Radiation pattern is just a map of how the strength of the signal varies around (transmitting) antennas. For some, like a simple whip antenna, the patttern too is quite simple. For directional antennas they can be quite complicated.
A passive antenna is an antenna that is not powered by an amplifier.
end-fire antenna = surface-wave antenna
A thin antenna has nothing to do with the physical size of the antenna. Any antenna whose length is less than (1/10) of the wavelength of the signal is thin antenna. A linear antenna is one in which the current distribution is linear or bears a linear relationship with some parameter, say voltage of the antenna...... Mukesh
Rhombic Antenna....
A smart antenna is used to identify signal signature and to track an antenna beam on the target. Some are for beamforming which is used to create the radiation pattern of the antenna.
Antenna gain of base station for a specific user depends on antenna pattern, antenna orientation (azimuth and tilt) and user's coordinates with respect to base station.

The antenna is located inside the rear window. You will notice the pattern in the glass (similar to the defroster pattern).
This will be a map of the radiation pattern of an antenna.
The isotropicantenna by definition has a radiation pattern that is a perfect sphere. The omni driectional antenna is characterized by a radiation pattern resembling a doughnut.

The flow chart follows this pattern; Transceiver to amplifier then out to swr meter, then into antenna tuner then out to antenna.
it is the integral of the normalised power pattern over sphere (4pie.st)
If the TV antenna was built for the correct frequency, it would work but my second thought is do you want the antenna to send a directional signal? I would think a "omni" signal (all direction pattern) would be a better choice. Most TV antennas are directional.
can transmit in all directions with a donut shaped radiation pattern.
