All of the 8 planets that orbit the Sun are in the same general plane. That is that they are all flat. Pluto's orbit is not flat like the rest of the planets. It is like it got caught while passing by. Some think that it is a burned out comet. It is a dwarf planet, no longer considered to be a real planet.

While the typical orbit of a planet around the Sun is in a circle, the orbit of Pluto has it crossing the orbit of Neptune, so sometimes Pluto is closer to the Sun than Neptune, but, most of the time, it's farther from the Sun than Neptune.

It is not on the same plane as the other planets. Its orbit brings it inside the orbit of Neptune for part of its year.

Its highly eccentric, meaning it is far from being circular and is not on the planetary plane. Its orbit also brings it inside a planets orbit for a certain time.
