I just had the same problem on my 2001 Galant ES. I took it to get repaired and I was told that it was a displaced or off-centered camshaft. Cost me $380 parts and labor.

To deactivate the alarm system on a Mitsubishi Galant 1999, place the key into the ignition and turn it slightly. Leave the key in this position for 10 minutes and then start the car.

Check your ignition module. When it gets warm or hot it loses spark if its faulty.

User Avatar

check the engine fuse it might be blown,or timing belt it might be wornout I had this problem happen twice to me, where it died on the road and I had to pull over and it would not start. This was a 1994 Mitsubishi Galant. The mechanic replaced what I think is the internal distributor, it was some electronic black box literally, and after that it was fine. I guess they burn out every 7 to 10 years.

Start with four quarts and add oil checking every 1/2 quart or so. I believe it will be between 4 1/2 and 5 quarts.

Most likely bad plugs or firing order isn't right, i would start by checking the order you got the plugs and if that's not it check the plug wires.

See sources and related links below for replacement bulb information. Then consult your owner's manual for the headlight bulb replacement procedure. As simple as it sounds, the owner's manual is the best place to start for bulb replacement instructions and illustrations. I wouldn't even try to start up the car, but take it to tech rigth away. Otherwise your cost will be a valve stuck in a pistons and you'll need a new engine.

What?! Until full! Start the vhicle, run for 10 inutes to enable the thermostat to open and the coolant to flow. Add the proper mix of coolant to fill the radiator to the bottom of the neck. The system will be sufficienty full

4.5-to 5,just start with 4,and check the dipstick, add a half a quart at a time, till its full. you do not need to start or run the engine to get an accurate reading, that is a myth. I managed an oil change shop for 3yrs. nikknowledge!

usualy if the alternator is not defective then its the battery. you should start by cleaning the battery post. then you could check the terminal wire that runs from the battery post to the alternator. if thats not it you should check the ground on the alternator.

The best place to start looking would be the Chilton's repair manual. It contains a complete wiring diagram for the entire car. It has all the stuff Mitsubishi doesn't want you to know about. Your closest autoparts store should have them in stock for about $20.00. It's good to have one anyway.

I had this problem last year. Turned out my air intake host where it connects to the air filter box was loose. I don't know how it became loose but after I tighten it, the problem went away.
