First check the battery. Sometimes a car may have trouble starting if the battery is weak though not completely dead.
Second check the spark plugs and cables. If they're old the plugs may be corroded and not generating a good spark. If the ignition cables are old the insulation may have broken down allowing voltage leak. Again, this keeps a strong spark from firing in the combustion chamber and the engine won't start.
Third, check the coil. A bad coil won't deliver the voltage needed for firing.
Beyond this, I don't know... maybe a fuel delivery problem though. Check to see if you have fuel in the carburetor bowl and/or that the carb isn't flooding.
Goodluck
Is the ignition getting power ie. does engine turn over. If not I would check for a blown fuse or fusable link.
Usually on a Corolla is it located on the left lever of the steering wheel and you usually have to turn it back to get the headlights to come on. In some older models it is part of a cluster of switches instead but it operates off the same principal.
depending what year check the turn signal switch. on the end if you turn it counter clockwise the parking lights should come on and if your turn it further the headlights will come on..
If the headlights will come on bright it's probably the starter. If the lights are dim it may be the battery. If you try jumper cables and it won't start it's probably the starter.
its to conserve power to start veh. with full voltage to starter headlights will come on after starting car
Yes, but there may not be enough power to start the engine.
check fuses and connections at the headlights and the switch in the dash, make sure your headlights are good ;-) that's a start...
I'd start by checking the fuses, and if none are blown, then a ground wire might have come loose. If that's the case, you might want to have it checked by a competent mechanic. Or you can check it yourself if you're capable.
Whatever controls the relay must be broken, if everything beyond the relay works.
I discovered that when I start my car (1999 Toyota Corolla CE) with the emergency brake engaged the head lights don't come on. They come on as soon as its released and they wont go off if you reset the break. Only when the car is turned on with the break set.
Check the fuses
Will your lights headlights come on? Will anything work? Had something like that happen to me years ago. I had no lights and nothing worked. Turned out it was an alternator. There could be something else that would be wrong but, it would be something to check out.
The Ford focus can have LED will headlights. The LED headlights do not come standard on the vehicle and will need to be an aftermarket addition.
