I have a 1994SHO and ever couple of weeks this OVERDRIVE OFF lite flashes for a couple of days then goes off. I suspect it has something to do with the transmission and its electronic sensors. Take your car to a transmission shop and hook up an analyzer to the ECM for the transmission. It also can be related to the Vehicle Speed Sensor. This sensor feeds to the ECM and if defective will disable the electronic Overdrive.
It shows that there is a problem with the transmission. Just like the check engine light, the overdrive light has codes that tell you what is wrong with the transmission and the various components connected with it.
Take it in. There is either a problem with your transmission or with the overdrive switch itself. Overdrive switch should be a lot cheaper to fix. I'm assuming the light not only goes on, but the overdrive physically turns off as well when the light is on.
Is door ajar light on also?
Usually a flashing Overdrive light on any Ford with an Automatic Overdrive is a sign of an internal failure. Seek the assistance of a qualified mechanic or transmission repair shop.
something is wrong in the transmission. It will have to be diagnosed. You probably have a bad shift solenoid in the tranny.
It's telling you there maybe something wrong with your transmission. Have the codes read and go from there.
Flashing overdrive light, or one that goes out and won't come back on means you need to have your transmission checked. I believe in a 99 they have a computer hook up they can use to see if they can figure out what is wrong with the transmission.
My knee-jerk answer would be a TCM (Transmission Control Module) problem, but have a shop hook up a scan tool and they can tell you what is wrong.
somthing is wrong with your car.
No, something is wrong.
Make sure you check all the bulbs on the drivers side of your car. If you have a burnt out light bulb it won't blink. Try that. Hope it works.
I believe it is Jason Miller but I could be wrong
A flashing OD light means there is a problem with your transmission. Your truck should continue to operate, but without overdrive capability, have it checked out at a shop. Your Mazda Pickup is almost identical to the Ford Ranger and thus should have a Ford transmission, when there is a problem with the transmission the OD light with either come on or Flash and sometimes the Check Engine light with come on too depending on what is wrong with the tranny.
The problem could be in you flasher located on the fuse block . or the multifunction switch located on the steering column.
Means there is something wrong with your transmission. Need to hook up to a computer & get the code normally but can be external damage also. My 97 F150 did that when the transmission mount broke.
If the ABS light is on, it quite possible that the computer will not allow the transmission to shift into OD until the problem is repaired. Go to a good repair shop or your nearest dealer.
If both your left and right trailer signals blink at the same time there is something wrong with your wiring harness.
Does the turn signal also blink? If so, you have two wires touching. What happens when you put the vehicle in reverse and the backup light is supposed to come on? If the turn signal lights up and the backup light doesn't, you have the bulbs in the wrong socket.
It means somethings wrong in you computer/laptop.
It is over 18 minutes long, so unless you have something seriously wrong with your eye it does not relate to the blink rate.
There's a turn signal or running light out on that side, either front or rear. Turn on signal, get out and look. If both turn signals are working, chances are its the running light.
It means the bulb is out or something else is wrong.
Transmission problem. Take it to a professional.
mabye u need to make a gear adjustment
Something not right with the transmition, its letting you know. its putting out a coad. the people at the shop can hook it up to the computer and let you know whats going wrong.
