What islands are off the east coast of Australia?

There are hundreds of islands off the east coast of Australia. The Whitsundays form a large island group off the central coast of Queensland. In the southeast of Queensland, the Bay islands of Moreton Bay are comprised of over a hundred smaller islands. Other major islands off the east coast include Bribie Island, Moreton Island and Fraser Island. The state of Tasmania is Australia's largest island, and lies off the southern coast on the eastern side.
The first island encountered when moving northeast of Australia is the the mainland of Papua New Guinea. Following this, Lord Howe Island is almost directly east of Macquarie, NSW.
