Nancy Pelosi, Representative for California's 12th District, serves as the Minority Leader of the United States House of Representatives and serves as floor leader of the opposition party and is the counterpart to the Majority Leader.

The Democratic Floor leader's duties include scheduling the floor's calendar and organizing committees for their party. Other duties include speaking for the party and its policies, protecting the minority's rights, and nominating minority party members to committees along with continuing to serve the residents of his or her district.

Who is the real speaker of the house Pelosi or Boehner very confused do republicans have one speaker and democrats another one if the president and vice president die who becomes president?

To clear up some of your confusion... The Speaker of the House is in charge of the House of Representatives. The Speaker is always the leader of the party with the most seats (currently the Republicans, until recently the Democrats). The Speaker has the power to preside over debate in the House, but usually doesn't do this, and instead members of their party will take it in turns to do the presiding. As the Republicans are currently in charge, the current Speaker is a Republican called John Bohner. After the Speaker, the most important members of the House are the Majority Leader (currently a Republican) and Minority Leader (currently a Democrat). The Minority Leader is currently Nancy Pelosi, and she is the leader of the House Democrats. Until recently, John Boehner was the Minority Leader and Nancy Pelosi was the Speaker, but they swapped positions after the previous election. On the other hand, the Majority Leader, currently Eric Cantor, is not in charge of the House Republicans (that's the Speaker's job) but serves as their second-in-command. If the President and Vice President both die, the Speaker of the House becomes President.

Is Nancy pelosi doing a good job as speaker?

NO! California is overwhelmed with illegal immigrants and the budget deficits reflect this. She is all for safe havens for illegals even though they are part of the reason for california's budget catastrophes. If she can't do the right thing for her home state how could she do a good job for the country?

What house of the US congress is presided over by the Speaker of the House?

Yes, however usually the Speaker does not actually preside over debate, but delegates the job to members of their party, who take it in turns to be the Acting Speaker. In the case of Westminster-style democracies where the Speaker has to be party-neutral, the Speaker always presides.

How does the speaker of the house lose their position?

The speaker is elected by the House, Since everybody votes by party lines, the speaker loses his job if his party loses its majority. It is also possible that someone within the party could challenge the speaker strongly enough to get him to retire lest he be defeated in a election.
