The rich owned land and the poor worked for the land. The lord of the manor was the judge and jury of crimes committed on his land. The lord had to help protect the lands of nobles of higher rank that lived nearby such as dukes and counts would have to help protect the king.
They were barons, knights, mean, stupid, nasty, and rich
The wealthy of the middle ages had a wide range of activities to chase away the boredom. They engaged in feasts, banquets, jousts and tournaments. There were plays, fairs, games, sports, hunting, hawking as well as blood sports involving bears and dogs. Entertainment from jesters, minstrels, troubadours, acrobats, jugglers and mummers were enjoyed periodically. A number of board games, including Chess and backgammon were invented during the middle ages.
They were nobles and they managed estates/manor properties for the king. Some were knights, ladies in waiting, and key advisors to the king. Their children became the people who took care of the queen/kings clothing and needs.
