Crookshanks is described as a ginger-colored cat, large size, a flat face and bushy tail. There is no official species listed.

Mrs. Norris is described as scrawny and dust-colored.

I'm assuming you are talking about what breed of cat is used for the movie versions. Crookshanks is a Persian and Mrs. Norris is a Maine Coon.

Mrs Norris is a Maine Coon cat, which are typefied by the pointy ear tufts, the longer fur, and the lengthy limbs. Maine Coons are lovely cats, and loyal. I believe Mrs Norris was kept scraggly looking by using extra fur attached to her collar, and some kind of safe hair gel on her coat. The red eyes were done digitally, not with contacts.

Actually, Mrs. Norris is a Norwegian Forest Cat.
