For example, if you live on the east coast in the northern part of the US, the summers will tend to be warm and muggy, but the winters will be quite cold. If you live on that same coast, but in the southern part of the US, then summers will be hot, muggy and humid, and the winters will be mild.
The further north you go, the colder the winters are, and summers are milder than they are in the southern part of the coast. If you live on the west coast, the temperatures don't fluctuate as drastically as they do on the east coast.
