It depends on the size of the tank and whether you want cold water or tropical fish. I currently have guppies and mollies living together in a small tropical tank. A small animal would be a good start. A rabbit or a cat require less care than a dog and can be left alone more often. This would teach you proper feeding and care with a little more room for error than with a dog. They are also lovable and if you get one with a good temper, playfull!! I have one that is easy to manage, and I am a kid, so if you keep the cage cleen, mom wont yell at you, and it wont smell!!! you must have good at waiting to train them!! good luck!! - jona
For the inexperienced, goldfish. They are inexpensive, hardy (low maintenance) and grow rather rapidly. Warning: goldfish are territorial and are picky about what kinds of fish (and other creatures) with whom they will share an aquarium.
For those more experienced, Mollys & Tetras are also good choices but prefer to be with others their own species (meaning they don't like to be the only one of their kind in the tank).
This depends on where you are, as fish species that are native to one area may be banned in another. Generally the species that are banned are those deemed to pose a serious environmental risk if irresponsible hobbyists release them. A list can usually be found on the website of the department of your state government that is responsible for primary production. Species that are commonly banned include mosquitofish (genus Gambusia), snakeheads (genus Channa), predatory cichlids, weather loaches, carp, tilapia, and other species that are adaptable and breed fast.
In general, most fish are great aquarium pets for beginners as they require little time/effort to maintain while still offering the benefits of a pet. However, there may be some fish you might want to avoid (i.e fighting fish) as they can cause problems with other fish especially for a beginner. Generally, you would probably want to stick with a standard common fish (i.e Goldfish) which have a good reputation for being beginner friendly.
it depends what you like it depends what you like

if you want to baby sit a pet i would have to know what kind of pet cause there are different ways to do that but if it was a cat you would ask the owner of that cat "can i baby sit this cat"but the owner might not say yes if ur a stranger to the cat they would say yes vary rarely but if you know the owner of the cat there is a 50 - 50 change that they would say yes or no.
