Ask your vet, but lavender oil is calming, and probably better for your dog then a medication. However, I would still ask if it's ok for your's. I use it on my dog and it works, but some have Allergies.

∙ 10y agoSedatives for your pets should only be used when prescribed by a vet for a specific reason (for example if your dog is terrified of thunderstorms).
Examples of veterinary sedatives:
- alpha-2 agonists (eg. medetomidine) may be prescribed to use on a healthy dog. However, there are many situations, such as when the animal has Heart disease, where this is not appropriate.
- phenothiazine derivatives (eg. acepromazine) - but cause hypotension
- benzodiazepines (eg. diazempam/valium)
As mentioned above, these drugs have side effects and if used inappropriately can lead to death, so it is very important that you do not medicate your pets yourself...
Many human medications are harmful for animals, so do not give you pet anything without first asking your vet for advice.
