An entamologist would have to see it to give you an id. Part of it is counting it's eyes.
It must be the famous yet deadly Black Widow, said to kill one man in minutes with the overwhelmingly strong toxins in it's venom.
A black spider with a red hourglass on it is called the black widow. This is a very dangerous species. If you find one, do not touch it.

If its black, has a large butt and there's a red shape on its back the resembles an hourglass, then its a black widow spider and they are very poisonous

Identifying spiders is difficult to do without knowing more than just the spider's color.. Body type, the presence or absence of hair, and where the spider is found can all help to make a positive identification. A spider with a black body and brown legs is likely to be a common house spider, which is not dangerous.
Cat faced spider
I think I may have seen a similar spider today. The "butt" of the spider was quite large, burnt orange color with white spots on the top. I have never seen the spider before but I think I found a picture of it online. I haven't found the name of it yet. I'll let you know when I find out what it was. I may have found the spider you saw. The one I saw is called a shamrock orb weaver. Check out the pic on spiderzrule.com under the link Common US Spiders on the home page.
