It could be 1 of 2 snakes I know with that color. A copperhead snake, or a small python. There could be others. I was looking for the same exact answer myself. I have one of similar color living in my backyard and I have been trying to capture it, and look up things to find out what type it could be. Or it could just posibly be a rare colored Garter snake.
There are many options for this snake. 1) Copper head, venomous 2) Cotton mouth, venomous 3) Brown water snake 4) Pine snake 5) Mole kingsnake 6) Midland water snake 7) Midland brown snake 8) Eastern Hognose. I was asking the same question and then I found this so I found this website. Type in "Snakes-Backyard Guide " You can pick the snake that looks closest to the one you found and see if it's venomous or not. It depends on which area you live in. I think the snake I found was a 9) Fox snake. Which I forgot to mention :) The looks of some snakes depends on the age.
