There are several languages spoken in West Africa and it is hard to pin down the main dialect. However, the highest percentage of people speaking a common language is 10 percent; the language being Swahili.

Some major languages from Europe are spoken there, such as English, Spanish, Portugeuse and French. Some of these are official languages of some countries. However there are hundreds of other languages in the countries of western Africa, too many to list. Some might be associated just with a small area or group of tribes.
