on 28th June 1914, the Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Austro/hungarian thorn was shot dead at sarajevo in Bosnia. Some had to be blamed for his death so they decided to blame Bosnia. The Hungarians gave them 24 hours to agree to the demands they should follow. All but one demand was agreed so the next day the Hungarians declared war
