Michael Jackson is regarded as the greatest entertainer of all time. His contributions to the culture and music were immense. The reason he was considered an icon was due to his
variety of works.
First of all he was among the best selling artists of all time. Also, his music broke all the
boundaries that kept the black people away and was largely responsible for promotion of welfare of children and poor people. The controversies surrounding him made him a more popular figure. Many of his songs were related to humanity and welfare of people. The changing colour of his skin and even the worst controversies made him an icon and gain respect in the eyes of people.
Michael is an icon because he inspires people to dance and to sing just like he he did, he cared about the world and the children that live in it and he tried to help them, people saw Michael doing these things and wanted do them as well. That's why the king of pop, Michael Jackson is an icon and idol.
Arnold Schwarzenegger did in fact know Michael Jackson, though it isn't widely known.
