I have just been hospitalised and took Alprim (Trimethoprim) as part of my treatment for 8 days. After 2 days my mouth started bleeding spontaneously. As each day continued my gums were very swollen, my mouth was ulcerated, my teeth began to feel loose and the bleeding got more severe. I spoke to the nurses and doctors who said they did not know what was causing it and I shouldn't worry. I also becan to feel nauseous, started vomiting, shaking and over the whole 8 days had no bowel movement despite taking Coloxyl, Fibrogel, having 3 enemas, etc. I was in a lot of abdominal discomfort and pain. I get out of hospital and do a 2 minute search on the net to find that these are all common reactions to Trimethoprim.
