  • fungi do not contain chlorophyll, so they can't photosynthesis like plants
  • fungi grow off dead plants or animals to obtain nutrients
  • fungi reproduce by spores (up to 2000 million spores can be formed by one mushroom)
  • fungi are called decomposers because they break down/decompose dead organisms but some are called parasites because they grow of living things. eg, ringworm is a fungus that grows off human skin.
