Damage to Buildings and Structures

Foundations and supports for buildings may fail, leading to shifting, sliding, or collapse. Bridges, tunnels, and roadways can also fail, imperiling motorists or bystanders.

Personal Injury

Because mud is usually thicker and heavier than water, it can sweep victims into channels or off hillsides, causing death by suffocation or impact (with fixed objects or other debris).

Livestock and Animals

Panicked animals present a threat while protecting or securing them.

Secondary Deaths or Injuries

The blockage of pathways or roadways can increase the chance of slips, falls, and accidents, and emergency services (police, fire, and medical vehicles) could be temporarily curtailed.

mudslides are dangerous because you never kniw if you can fall in or not. the last time i stepped in one my foot sunk in the mud about up to my ankles. if it is a serious one then you can fall and it can collapse over you!
