Coppermine Island is part of the Hen and Chicken Islands located off the northern coast of New Zealand. There are copper deposits on the island but they have not been mined. The attempts at mining the deposits proved to be unprofitable.
From various minerals and ores which are mined. Which metal depends on which mineral is mined.
Coppermine Island was not mined because it is classed as a Protected Natural Area.
