Dental floss
Dental floss is the most common thing to clean inter proximal surfaces. If you have enough room, you can also use small interdental brushes or Oral B soft picks.
detect interproximal caries
Mostly on your posterior teeth, molars and such, because that's where most people brush the least. Also other areas where plaque builds up, like in between your teeth. Those are called 'interproximal lesions' and can be prevented by flossing or using interdental brushes. Most cavities on your front teeth are interproximal too.
A type of radiograph (x-ray) which only shows the crowns (part of the tooth visible in the mouth) of several upper and lower teeth. Usually used to check for caries (decay) in the interproximal areas (between teeth) of posterior (back) teeth.
Without adequate oral hygiene, bacteria can grow anywhere on a tooth. However, the most common areas are the sulcus (space between the tooth and gum) interproximal (between the teeth) and in the grooves of the biting surface.
