I know that most antiviruses use a macro code database to identify and eliminate viruses. All a virus is comprised of is a very long list of code called macro. Each virus has a different code and each code allows the virus to have a different function. Antiviruses update their viral macro code database so that they know which codes to look for and once they identify a known viral macro they will delete it.

∙ 11y agoAntivirus programs have a constantly updated database full of all known viruses and their digital signature, which is a certain string of text or commands that identifies that certain file as a virus. When you scan your computer, your antivirus software cross matches the items it scans with the signatures of the viruses in its database. When it finds a file that matches a signature, it flags that file as a virus and then notifies you. This is how antivirus programs keep your computer infection free. However there are such things as anti-antivirus viruses. These nasty little critters infect or disable your antivirus software so that it is useless while it takes over your system. If you don't have an antivirus, I recommend downloading one of the following antivirus programs: Norton 360, Symantec, or McAfee Antivirus Plus. Also download SpyBot: Search and Destroy and MalwareBytes. All of these programs will keep your computer very safe from any thing that wants to infect it.
