Saints do not perform miracles. Miracles are performed only by God. However, He may decide to grant a miracle through the intercession of a saint. All saints have the power to intercede on our behalf to the Father. In the case of St. Nicholas of Myra, Our Lord worked at least one miracle through him. Three young boys were brought back to life that had been murdered and stuffed into a barrel of brine.

St. Nicholas was the Bishop of Myra (now in Turkey) during the 4th century. He would secretly give help to those in need. One story told of the generosity is that Nicholas, upon hearing that a local man had fallen on such hard times that he was planning to sell his daughters into prostitution, went by night to the house and threw three bags of gold in through the window, saving the girls from an evil life.
