If you are studying A&P using the Marieb & Mitchell 10th Ed the answer you are looking for is: Extensor carpi radialis longus (d) (found on page 216 in the Lab Manual)

Extensor Carpi Ulnaris <--Correct answer. Read below:

The first entry above is incorrect. The second answer (extensor carpi ulnaris) is correct. Read the question carefully: aDduct vs. aBduct. I teach from the Marieb & Hoehn 8th edition book, which confirms the second (correct) answer on p. 356, Table 10.11. Also, remember to answer the question assuming the body is in anatomical position, which places the ECU more medial than the ECR. Logic should lead one to the realization that contraction of the ECU muscle will move the wrist medially (aDduction). Likewise, contraction of the ECR (both longus and brevis) will move the wrist laterally (aBduction).

flexor carpi radialis flexes and radially deviates. extensor carpi radialis extends and radially deviates. when they contract together, they radially deviate. its the same with flexor and extensor ulnaris- when they contract together they perform ulnar deviation. these actions abduct and adduct the wrist by canceling each other out.

all flexor muscles flex the wrist. these include flexor carpi radialus, flexor carpi ulnaris pronotar teres, flexor digitorum...superficilis
