I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty Limited 4x4 3.7l with 90k miles. Since I had it I used Castrol synthetic 10w30 with the Fram Extended Guard. I always changed the oil and filter at 5,000 miles. Recently I switched to Mobile One(good for 15,000 miles, but it seems fishy to me), still I change both at 5,000 miles and never had a problem.
I have an 05 Liberty Limited with the 3.7 in it. In 2007, Jeep changed the standard on all 3.7L engines ever to 5W20. It takes 5 quarts of oil. Before that, the standard weight for the oil was 5w30. Use of a 10w30 is not recommended because it has been found to break down faster and can in turn damage the internal components.
10w30 for 2004
The fuel filter is part of the pump module in the fuel tank.

The 2004 Jeep Liberty has a "lifetime" fuel filter built into the fuel delivery module. This is located inside the fuel tank. The filter itself is not servicable. If you suspect a plugged filter, the entire module, which also contains the pump and level sender, will need to be replaced.
